English Home Learning: 30th March

Hi Everyone,

Here are the home learning tasks for this week.

There are three levels of task:

Orange is Level 1 which is the least challenging. Green is Level 2 which is the medium challenge, and Blue is Level 3, which is the most challenging.

For each task there is a reading source and a question sheet. You can type your answers directly onto the question sheet, or you can type onto a fresh document of your own if you prefer.

Completed work can be emailed back to us for marking and feedback.

English Home Learning: English Live on Facebook

Hi Everyone,

I thought I would share another resource that is available for free, this time through Facebook. An English teacher is running a live English lesson each day through her Facebook page at 11am. If you search for English with Holly, you should find her page. All the lessons that she has already given this week are still available to view. Lessons are suitable for KS3. I have posted below her scheduled lessons for this week and next week.

Video Comprehension Task: How is Lego Made?

Watch the video and answer the questions in full sentences. You might need to pause the video as you watch to write the answers.

  1. What country is the Duplo factory in?
  2. What do Lego bricks start off as?
  3. What is the name of the machine where the plastic granules and the colour are mixed?
  4. How long does it take to mould and cool a brick?
  5. What is an interesting fact about Lego tyres?
  6. What is the name of the method where some Lego bricks get decorated?

Boggle 23rd March

Good Morning,

At school, we run a weekly Boggle challenge, where students and staff compete to get the highest score. I thought it might be good to give it a try with everyone working at home this week. I’ll post the rules and this week’s board below. If you email me with your list of words by this Friday, I’ll mark them and let you know how you did next week:

English Puzzles 20th March

Hi Everyone,

Here are a selection of crossword puzzles to complete with different challenge levels. Orange is the easiest, green is medium, and blue is the most challenging. In each, there are two versions. The first with the words you need underlined, and the second without. Can you challenge yourself, and try to complete the second one?
